Biography:
Samir Kamel holds a Ph.D. degree (1996) from Ain Shams University, Egypt, and is currently the head of the Cellulose and Paper Department at the National Research Centre (NRC), Egypt and a seconded professor at the University of Sadat City, Egypt. He was a Vice Dean of the Chemical Industries Institute (2012 –2019) and a senior visiting professor at Mississippi State University - USA, Grenoble Institute of Technology - University of Nancy- Epinal, University of Montpellier - France, Huazhong University of Science and Technology – Wuhan - China, Institute of Macromolecule - Czech, Biological Research Center – Szeged – Hungary, Institute of Polymers, Composites, and Biomaterials of National Research Council, Naples – Italy, and Faculty of Science - University of Jordan - Jordan. Also, he was a foreign professor at the University of Malakand – Pakistan, the University of Sabha, and the University of Omar El-Mukhtar, Libya. He received an award of Scientific Excellence (2013) from NRC, Egypt, an Award of Environmental Research from the Academy of Scientific Research & Technology (ASRT), Egypt (2020), an Appreciative (Basic Science Field) 2022 from NRC, and award of Al-Shorouk Academy for Scientific and Technological Creativity in the field of Chemical Engineering and its Applications, Egypt (2023). Also, he received three individual awards from the NRC and ASRT, Egypt. He is a general coordinator of the Memorandum of Understanding for Scientific Collaboration between NRC and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique – France, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, South Valley University, Egypt, and Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Egypt. He is working on different national and international projects. He is a member of the Egyptian Journal of Chemistry, the International Journal of Organic Chemistry, Cellulose Chemistry and Technology, Kenkyu Open Access Wallet, and Frontiers in Chemistry (Polymer Chemistry) Editorial Board. He is a reviewer for international scientific journals and has published over 200 articles in high-quality international journals.
Research interest:
Biomaterials systems focus on smart materials, nanocomposites, conducting materials, macromolecules, sensors, and hydrogels.
