Dr. Yusuf Altuntas is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the University of Health Sciences, Sisli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology. His primary clinical and research interests focus on sports surgery—particularly knee surgery and rotator cuff disorders—as well as arthroplasty. In addition, spine surgery and orthopaedic trauma are among his areas of interest.
Between 2013 and 2014, Dr. Altuntas gained international experience at the University of Arizona, Tucson, where he worked in the field of vertebral surgery with a particular emphasis on spinal tumors in collaboration with the Department of Neurosurgery. He has been involved in 25 research projects and has authored 15 publications indexed in SCI/SCI-E journals.
Dr. Altuntas plays an active role in professional societies. He serves as Vice Chair of the Meniscus Committee of the Turkish Society of Sports Injuries, Arthroscopy and Knee Surgery (TUSYAD) and as a faculty instructor in the TUSYAD multi-center rotational training program, in which orthopaedic surgeons receive structured education through courses hosted sequentially by different institutions. His institution is one of the hosting centers within this program. He is also a member of the Turkish Orthopaedics and Traumatology Association (TOTDER) and ASAMI.
He completed his medical education between 2008 and 2015 and his orthopaedic and traumatology residency training between 2019 and 2024 at Sisli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital, University of Health Sciences. Dr. Altuntas successfully passed the national board certification examination in Orthopaedics and Traumatology in 2024.
