Anthony C. Antonacci, MD, SM, FACS received his college and medical degrees from Georgetown University and completed his surgical residency at The New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical College. He studied for two years with Robert A. Good, M.D., Ph.D., at Memorial Sloan Kettering as a PHS/NCI Fellow in Immunobiology. After joining the full-time faculty at NYH-CUMC, he maintained an active, continuously NIH funded laboratory from 1982-1990 and developed a busy General Surgery practice. His work on angiogenesis attracted numerous patients with wound healing disorders and he is regarded as an expert in the field. He continued his training at Yale University in minimally invasive surgery in 1999 and assumed the Chairmanship of the Department of Surgery at Beth Israel from 2000-2005. The Department was awarded a HealthGrades Gold award for outstanding quality in morbidity and mortality during his tenure. In June 2004, he completed the Master of Science program in Health Care Management at the Harvard School of Public Health and his recent work has been in the field of surgical adverse outcomes analysis. In 2007, Dr. Antonacci was named to Govenor Corzine’s Commission on Rationalizing Health Care Resources in New Jersey, and is the author of over 138 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts, and 9 book chapters. Administratively, Dr. Antonacci was the Medical Director at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC, and recently retired asthe Vice President for Surgical Service Line Quality for Northwell Health. Dr. Ramiro Ramírez Gutiérrez is a renowned specialist in traumatology, orthopaedics, and spinal surgery, with a solid academic and clinical background spanning more than three decades. Alberto R Ferreres, MD, PhD, JD, MPH, is Professor of Surgery at the University of Buenos Aires and Professor of Surgery and Ethics at the University of Washington, Seattle. He previously chaired the Department of General Surgery at UBA and later served as Director of Education and Research. Trained in general surgery and surgical oncology at UBA, he also earned a JD, MPH, and MHA, and was an ACS International Guest Scholar in minimally invasive surgery. Ferreres has authored six textbooks, over 40 book chapters, and more than 100 scientific articles. He is Co-Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery Open and serves on editorial boards of JAMA Surgery, Annals of Surgery, and others.
